Innovation and imagination enhance the way that visitors experience one of the world’s finest cave systems. Last year’s 220,000 visitors explored the underworld, on tours of 11 show caves, ‘adventure’ caves, ghost tours, night tours, kids’ tours and underground concerts - activities that won Jenolan the ‘Tourist Attraction’ award, for the third year in a row. Million Dollar Kitchen!
Our huge Edwardian kitchen is receiving a total makeover. We expect that the full cost will be around $900,000.

The kitchen will reopen for this October’s school holidays and ‘L’Affaire de Printemps’, Jenolan’s Spring celebration of food, wine and music – Oct 30 to Nov 6, 2010.

You are still welcome to dine at Caves House.  Although Chisolm's Restaurant is temporarily closed, our chefs are creating delicious dinners in our cafe kitchen, to be served in our atmospheric Ballroom plus full country breakfasts in our 'Kanangra-Boyd Gallery'.

At Jenolan, Expect the Unexpected! - At the recent 2009 NSW Tourism Awards, Jenolan Caves won a bronze award for its challenging adventure caving and a SILVER in the ‘Attractions’ category, for the awe-inspiring experiences that await visitors to this dazzling natural phenomenon.

Jenolan is considered to be one of the world’s oldest cave systems. However, Jenolan continually refreshes the way visitors experience the underworld - providing ‘experiential tourism’ for today’s expectations.

This year, Jenolan made over 20 innovations, including the redevelopment of the Orient Cave, producing one of the most stunning, most environmentally responsible and technically advanced caves in the world. Innovations also included a range of specially developed children’s cave tours, offering activities such as underground mapping and leadership skills.

Jenolan’s adrenalin-pumping adventure programs offer underground activities for beginners to veterans. Wearing headlamps, adventurer cavers explore, abseil, crawl, push their limits and face their fears, deep in the heart of a mountain.

NEW - Minister Re-opens a 340 Million Year Old Treasure - On August 20, 2009, at Jenolan Caves, the Honorable Carmel Tebbutt MP, Deputy Premier and Minister for the Environment and Climate Change, formally re-opened one of the world’s most awe-inspiring caves - the Orient!

Recent redevelopment of the Orient, has resulted in one of the most stunning, most environmentally responsible and technically advanced tourist caves in the world.

A dedicated team spent many months working on the redevelopment, which involved hundreds of lights and kilometers of cables in one of the most delicate and fragile crystal caves in Australia. The new lighting was carefully designed to highlight the myriad cave decorations as they have never been seen before.

The new system is environmentally friendly, using entirely low energy LEDs. The effect is amazing and uses a fraction of the
previous power, minimizing heat output, which would otherwise be damaging to the sensitive cave environment. So not only is the Orient Cave even more spectacular, it is also better protected for future generations to enjoy.
