Jenolan Caves

Learn about Aboriginal Culture

Our new audio/visual devices, from Acoustiguide, give schools a range of choices, including 2 self-guided tours that focus on the culture of the Gundungurra people.  Both tours were developed in conjunction with the Gundungurra Tribal Council, using the authentic Gundungurra language, spoken by a Gundungurra man, Tom Brown, who also created the beautiful accompanying traditional Aboriginal art.

Learn how the indigenous Gundungurrra people used the Caves and the surrounding bushland. Aboriginal people called Jenolan's subterranean waters Nadyung, or healing waters, and travelled great distances to bathe in the underground pools.

'Healing Waters' bushwalk
