His Lordship's 1896 Jenolan Adventure

Jenolan Caves, near Oberon, NSW, first became a magnet for curious visitors in the early 1800s. These days, many thousands of visitors, from all over the world, can easily drive to the spectacular Jenolan Caves, through the Blue Mountains, along scenic, winding country roads. But in the old days, crossing the Blue Mountains was long and difficult, as this story illustrates.

***PRE-BOOK AND ARRIVE AT LEAST 1 HOUR EARLY.***
Access is via EDITH ROAD ONLY. (On Jenolan Caves Rd, there is a 30-minute DETOUR to Edith Rd via Duckmaloi Rd.) Three kms before Jenolan, at the top of the steep valley descent, stop at the gate. Please follow the escort vehicle (running every 20 minutes) 3km down to our carpark. In the carpark, wait to catch our free shuttle bus, or walk the last 500m downhill to caves and hotel.
To be on time for your tour, please arrive at the gate***AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE YOUR FIRST BOOKED ACTIVITY***.
Every 20 minutes, escort vehicles leave our car park, to accompany you back up the hill. Day visitors need to leave Jenolan before 6pm, when the gate will be locked.
