And now you can even choose an Aboriginal Culture tour of the Nettle cave (in English) - really fascinating!

We Won Silver in the Regional Tourism Awards!
We are pleased to announce that in the Blue Mountains Tourism 'Awards for Excellence 2013', we won a Silver award for 'Heritage and Culture'. What sort of 'heritage and culture' can be found in a cave! You would be amazed!
We share our unusual heritage and culture through self-guided Aboriginal culture tours, history cave tours, Caves House tour and self-guided bushwalk about our technicological history. To really find out how a big hole in the ground can win awards for its heritage and culture, see more.
Also at the Blue Mountains Awards for Excellence, our Manager of Strategic Relationships, Charles Degotardi, received the prestigeous 'Tourism Ambassador' award. Congratulations Charles! Plus, we sponsored 2 award categories: 'Adventure Tourism' (won by Life's An Adventure) and ''Tourist & Caravan Parks' (won by Blackheath Glen Tourist Park & Katoomba Falls Tourist Park).
All award winners move on to the NSW Tourism Awards (and hopefully the Australian Tourism Awards).

Now Our Souvenirs are Much Easier to Find!
Have you ever wondered how to buy souvenirs at Jenolan? We are fitting out our new souvenir shop, inside our Ticket Office.
We have had a souvenir shop for many years, in Caves House - a bit hidden away. Many visitors couldn't find it opposite the hotel reception desk. We will still have a souvenir shop in Caves House, for those who love to wander around the grand hotel and browse in the atmospheric shop. But now you will also be able to purchase rock samples, mugs and an assortment of Jenolan Caves memorabilia in the Ticket Office. So, there will be 2 souvenir shops - much more convenient!

Which School Just Enjoyed its 54th Jenolan Visit?
Every August, Sydney's Normanhurst Boys' High School comes to Jenolan Caves. We just hosted their 54th visit.
Exceptional boys, they are always great favourites at Jenolan, booking out the hotel for 3 nights. They spent 3 days enjoying cave tours, adventure caving, bushwalking and other team-building and mind-expanding activities. This year we hosted 132 boys (year 7 and senior mentors), 10 teachers and 3 coach drivers. Students often remember their visit to Jenolan as a highlight of their school years, when they learn a range of new skills and make friends.
We host many schools, but we owe a huge thank you to Normanhurst for really making us feel special!

Use the Latest Gadgets for Our New Self Guided Tours!
We are acquiring very latest in digital audio/visual self-guided tour devices. Borrow one from our Ticket Office, and let it guide you along any of our six self-guided tours.
These new gadgets are part of the rapidly evolving world of self-guided tour technology, provided by Acoustiguide.
In 2006, we launched our first self-guided cave tour, of the combined Nettle Cave and Devils Coach House Caves, on a handheld digital audio device. You still get this great self-guided tour, FREE, in a choice of 13 languages, when you purchase a guided show cave tour. Your children can do the same tour using a commentary created for a younger audience. Recently, we added an Aboriginal culture tour to the same Acoustiguide device - and it is fascinating! So, that's 3 self-guided tours.
What about the other 3 tours? In mid-September, we will also add our 3 self-guided bushwalks to the Acoustiguide device - handy if you want to do the new bushwalking tours, but forgot to download the free iPhone 'Jenolan Trails' app. That will make 6 self-guided tours on the one device. The new device will have both images and audio. It will be here in time for the school holidays!

BOOK NOW - Sept 7 - History Tours for Oberon's 150th Birthday!
Jenolan Caves and Caves House have always been part of Oberon's economy, culture and history. To help celebrate Oberon's 150th birthday, we will run history tours for one day only.
In 'the old days', Jenolan's cave guides were stern and serious (unlike today). So, to recreate the feel of those bygone days, multi-talented cave guide, and historical researcher, David Hay, will don a vintage uniform and use his acting talents to become the very formal 'Mr Reg Richardson'. 'Mr Richardson' will take you through the beautiful Diamond Cave, retelling authentic stories of its eccentric discoverer, Jeremiah Wilson.
As well as cave tours, the very proper 'Mr Richardson' will formally conduct visitors through Caves House, recalling its famous visitors over the years. We haven't run a history tour for many months, so don't miss out on this one!
