Jenolan Caves and Climate Change
A new scientific imaging technique has been used at Jenolan Caves.
Recently, scientists surveyed parts of Jenolan Caves, using a new 3D imaging technique, which may provide a better understanding of climate change in Australia's past.
Jenolan Caves is a constant source of scientific study. Only 6 years ago, scientists at the C.S.I.R.O. confirmed that Jenolan is the world’s oldest cave system - 340 million years. Jenolan Caves is the largest cave system in Australia with approximately 40km of caves. Its full extent has yet to be discovered, and is the subject of ongoing exploration. Jenolan is studied for its geology, ecosystems and biodiversity - and now climate change. www.smh.com.au/environment/climate-change/jenolan-caves-sheltering-climate-secrets-20121215-2bgck.html
