Share your story: The Jenolan Memory Project launches this September
This September, Jenolan Caves is proud to launch the Jenolan Memory Project - a heartfelt new initiative inviting visitors, locals, and nature lovers alike to share their personal stories and cherished memories of one of Australia’s most iconic natural wonders.
Whether it’s a childhood adventure, a family holiday, a romantic moment, or a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the caves’ breathtaking beauty, the Jenolan Memory Project is about capturing the human connection to this ancient place. These stories will help shape future interpretation and engagement initiatives, ensuring that the spirit of Jenolan is told not just through geology and history, but through the voices of those who’ve experienced it firsthand.

Launching at “Interesting Things” in Oberon
The project will make its public debut at “Interesting Things”, a free community exhibition held at Malachi Gilmore Hall in Oberon on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2025.
This vibrant exhibition celebrates the stories and objects that make the region unique, with contributions from across the community. Jenolan Caves will be among the exhibitors, showcasing a fascinating collection of artefacts and tales drawn from over 300 million years of history.
As part of the exhibit, visitors will be invited to write down their favourite Jenolan memory on a specially designed postcard and post it into a dedicated letterbox at the event.
Just the Beginning
The Jenolan Memory Project is more than a one-time event, it’s the beginning of an ongoing journey to collect and celebrate the stories that connect people to Jenolan. Over time, these memories will form a rich tapestry of lived experiences, helping to deepen the connection between Jenolan and the communities it touches. We can’t wait to hear your stories!
